Did you get an error saying ‘ Error 5 no hostname exists for this connection entry.  Unable to make VPN connection. ‘ ?

Okay! I have a solution for that.

Don’t worry, these kinda issues will be common when we use VPN clients. Not only the VPN clients provided from CISCO, from others software providers as well.

Either ways – I have a solution for your problem!

When you encounter ‘ Error 5 no hostname exists for this connection entry.  Unable to make VPN connection ‘ error on you system. Please follow the below steps to get VPN working again.

Step1: Close the VPN window and others, if you have any.

Step2: Restart your system.

Step3: Once logged in – please run Cisco VPN.

Normally, now the VPN client should work  properly.

Is it not working properly as accepted?

Does it say:

Remote desktop can’t connect to the remote computer for one of the reasons:

1) Remote access to the server is not enabled.
2) The  remote computer is turned off.
3) The remote computer is not available on the network.

Make sure the remote computer is turned on and connected to the network, and that remote access is enabled.

Don’t worry. Please follow few more steps to get it alright!

Step1: Consider, deleting the .pcf file that you had imported into the VPN earlier. [Please, see if you have a copy of the .pcf file in you hard dive].

Step2: Import the .pcf from your hard drive to your Cisco VPN client.

Step3: Please, go ahead and try connecting now.

Step4: Since, you imported the .pcf file freshly – the client will ask for Username and Password.

If it connects without any problem – It’s well and good. Else, do the last bit to get your VPN connect properly.

Just consider restarting the system for the last time and when you come back and try connecting using Cisco VPN – It should connect seamlessly.
