Do you get an error when you try to install plugin in WordPress admin dashboard?
Then, you have landed in the right place!
Once, I had the same issue when I tried to install plugin in WordPress dashboard. But, it threw an error in the dashboard saying ‘An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with WordPress.org or this server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums.‘
After few experiments – I saw that Akismet was having some issues connecting to its server or database and was highlighted in Red color indicating that Akismet is in trouble. That is when I tried to install it manually and succeeded in install the plugin which I wanted.
After a day or so everything went well inside the WordPress dashboard. Akismet was back working fine and I could install the plugins directly from the dashboard without any error. So, do not panic if you encounter an error of that kind – wait for some time and you will see everything back in action!!
There might be several other reasons as well because of which you get an error while you try to install plugin in WordPress. There might be a plugin that you recently installed and which might be causing the problem.
If you are an average techie please go ahead and download the error log file from your Websites root using FTP. You will get all the errors logged time by time. And, then you can get that error and post it to the WordPress support forum and get it solved!
If you don’t have enough time to deal with all those chaos – Just, deactivate the plugin that you installed and got error and see if you can install other plugins you want. If that’s working – see for any alternatives for that particular plugin that gave you error or write to the support team and wait for an updated version of that plugin.
If that doesn’t work for you for some reason – You can always go ahead and install the module of your choice by downloading it from WordPress.org and uploading it to your site manually using WordPress admin dashboard.
You can then, make some time to rectify the error that blocked you from installing plugin earlier. See WordPress.org support on plugin installation error discussion forums more solutions!
